Craters of the Moon

Mia Lila

She might be so beautiful shining at night
The deepest darkness still bursts by her light
Whenever you’re lost in sadness and gloom
Stand still for a minute and look at the moon

Let her be your teacher in strength and in ease
She’s always been shining, in war and in peace
And nothing could break her, she never declined
Though every attack leaves craters behind

She’s covered in scars, her light fades away
Vanishing slowly from silver to grey
Not more than a flutter, not more than a glow
Still lighting your way, wherever you go

Be careful, she’s breaking, don’t take one more piece
With every crater she’s closer to cease
And one night you’ll look up, in need of her light
You finally broke her, no moon is in sight
