The Balloonophemus

The species of Balloonophemus is not new,
its members fill balloons with words instead of air,
impress the normal people, yet are half coocoo,
use empty words to brag and talk with lots of flair.
The past was owned by them, the future will be, too.
Endemic once to comics, but escaped from there,
they rule - their power is beyond most people's reach
and bursting the balloons will never end their speech.

A very interesting cryptozoological poem. I like this one. It would fit a postcard with illustrations.

Hi Bernd,
thank you for your comment. I like the word "cryptozoogical". Until now I haven't thought of a picture for a postcard. It would probably have to be some kind of comic figure. I will think over it.

I saw such things and bought them during the Elstercon in Leipzig. Fortunately "cryptozoology" is not new, so you can use it.

There are lotsof beasts in the bestarium of cryptozoology, and plants in cryptobotanic. I revived y cryptohistorical studies, and so I was glad to read your poem.

The problem with cryptobiology and the "Balloonophemus" is that the term species is used here jokingly. In fact, I was talking about humans as if they were animals, analysing their idiosyncrasies in "zoological" terms. This is different in the poem of Christian Morgenstern "Das Nasobem" which was motivating for my poem. The "Nasobem" could really be a cryptid. For my "Balloonophemus" I'm not so sure.
