Why can’t we stay forever in disguise?
The sun chills out behind a woolly cloud,
so I don’t have to open up my eyes

and watch those bright blue birds consume their skies –
thoughts fly too fast once they are sung aloud –
why can’t we stay forever in disguise?

Your silent tongue’s a magical device
to lend my sharpest sense a softer shroud,
so I don’t have to open up my eyes

and cut myself. For will it not suffice
if I can guess your heartbeat in the crowd,
why can’t we stay forever in disguise?

We are too long; we could be so concise,
if keeping on the blindfolds were allowed,
so I don’t have to open up my eyes

and see so much of what we both despise,
which does include ourselves without a doubt.
Why can’t we stay forever in disguise,
so I don’t have to open up my eyes?

beautifully sad

Congrats!

No nits.

("magical device" may be a bitsy cliché, though)

The sun chills out behind a woolly cloud,
so I don’t have to open up my eyes

and watch those bright blue birds consume their skies –
thoughts fly too fast once they are sung aloud –
why can’t we stay forever in disguise?

Lb. presque-rien,

Ansonsten: superduperly awesome!

Hey serge,

Glad you like! :) I changed the "magical device" line, hope it's a bit less cheesy now ;D. Thanks for commenting!

Lieber Herbert, lieber Walther,

Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
