The End of a Date

What a gorgeous male! - She just could not manage to avert her look, not even ... blink.
When finally her eyes returned to the table in front of her,
she felt a little sting of surprise. Her date had disappeared,
leaving the white paper napkin draped across her still empty plate.
She took it and read the words he'd written upon the cloth:

I'm bored and tired,
I am worn out,

My throat is sore, the eyes are dry.

My patience all has now expired.
Your honesty is what I doubt.

I guess this date is just a lie.

Your eyes go constantly astray
and absent minded you reply.

But nevermind, it's quite ok.
You should have seen the other guy.

It's a wordplay.
"You should have seen the other guy" is a bonmot (kind of a saying), normally used by people who got into a brawl.
Like:
"Sure, I got the black eye, but you should have seen the other guy ..."
I just set it into a different context. ;o)

But still, why going onto a date, when someone just is ignoring the other person?

Hi Aufschreiber,

I see so, it's a brawl. "No matter" it's one possible reaction, I think so. There's no reason to explain, to fight for ... an empty plate , nothing, ... This common story ends exactly in front of an empty plate, my opinion. But , no matter ...
