Violets Eulogy

Tell me, what sorrow your tears proclaim?
What is the burden, the grief you name?
You who stay silent, who neither dare nor see,
For fear your names might spoken be.

For weal or for woe—
let the windows break!
Let shards bear witness,
let voices quake!
Let truth ring out, let dignity cry,
Let not our hope in silence die.

Strike steadfast,
where the blows have lain,
And let our courage
cut again!
The malleable iron begins to glow,
Arm yourselves—
in green, white, violet flame!

Freedom still walks in a child’s small shoes,
Refusing to bend,
refusing to lose.
Our hearts burn fierce,
our spirits fight,
To topple the patriarch’s hollow might.

Their crimes, their brutal
and violent ways
Shall not be lost
in the wind’s faint haze.
A furious storm is rising fast—
What once was sown
shall flame at last!
